教育方針：
経済学は非常に頑健な社会科学の一分野であり、現実のさまざまな問題を読み解き、実践的政策を提示するのに有用な学問である。理論・実証分析、歴史分析、フィールドワークなどを組み合わせることによって、深い洞察を得ることができる学問であると信じている。 「廃棄と汚染の経済学」や「研究会」（ゼミナール）でも、この点に留意しつつ、理論・実証分析、歴史分析、フィールドワークの成果をバランスよく組み合わせることによって、現実の環境問題を読み解いて行きたい。また私は、現実の環境政策にもさまざまなルートで関与しているが、こうした経験から得られた現実の生々しい状況についても随時学生に伝えて行きたい。

研究としては、現在動脈経済と静脈経済の相互関係、2つの経済系のバランスなどが主要関心である。特に、モノをgoodsからgoods and badsにまで広げて経済分析を拡張することに意義を感じている。環境問題に取り組むにあたって、理論経済学が私の最も得意とする分析手法であるが、最近では制度分析や実証分析にまで関心を広げている。環境問題を読み解き、深い洞察を得るのに、経済学は極めて頑健な武器となり得ると信じている。
